Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” Reclaims #1 at Pop, Stays #1 at Hot AC

In less than twelve hours, Taylor Swift’s “1989” will begin a week that will surely produce the year’s best sales total.

For now, she can celebrate the latest radio achievement of lead single “Shake it Off.”

According to Mediabase, the song reigns as this week’s leader at both pop and hot adult contemporary.

Overtaken by Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” last week, the song reclaims pop’s #1 position despite losing spins this week. Down 360 from last week’s mark, “Shake it Off” received 16,975 pop radio spins during the October 19-25 tracking period.

Insofar as Azalea’s song lost more than one thousand spins this week (and thus fell to a total of 16,370), “Shake it Off” was nonetheless able to score a second, nonconsecutive week at #1.

At Hot AC, “Shake it Off” enjoys a fifth consecutive week at #1. Its latest victory comes via 6,890 weekly spins.

“Shake it Off,” meanwhile, repeats at #4 at adult contemporary and remains a top 25 song at rhythmic.
