Ratings: “The Flash” Falls 14% Against MLB, Remains Solid for The CW

Update: Facing competition from the MLB World Series, episode three of The CW’s “The Flash” drew a deflated, but still quite solid, 1.5 adults 18-49 rating with 3.59 million viewers.

Last week’s installment drew a 1.7 rating with 4.27 million viewers.

The CW followed “Flash” with “Supernatural” (0.9, 2.08 million).

By now, the odds of “The Flash” deteriorating into anything less than a very strong addition to The CW’s schedule are remote.

But there was never any question that it would endure some degree of cooling off. As such, there should be no surprise that “The Flash” slipped in the week three overnights.

After opening with a 3.4 two weeks ago and then dropping to a 3.0 last week, “The Flash” this week delivered a 2.7 overnight household rating. Still by far the strongest rating for a CW series–and certain to translate into a solid number in adults 18-49–the number does represent another 10% decline.

Stiff head-to-head competition from FOX’s World Series baseball coverage certainly did not help matters, but insofar as shows usually take a few weeks to stabilize, it is likely “Flash” would have taken a hit this week no matter what.

The CW followed “The Flash” with “Supernatural” (1.5 overnight household rating).
