New Song from Taylor Swift’s “1989” Emerges in Diet Coke Commercial

The cross-promotional blitz for Taylor Swift’s “1989” is in full swing, and the latest effort comes in the form of a new Diet Coke commercial.

Entitled “Taylor Swift Kittens,” the commercial reveals what Taylor Swift’s life would be like “if it tasted as good as Diet Coke.”

While many will smile at the adorable nature of the spot, which features the singer-songwriter surrounded by cute kittens (including her own Olivia), others will find their attention immediately drawn to the song playing in the background.

Swift identifies it as a “new song” and insofar as the commercial jointly promotes her new album “1989,” logic suggests it is one of the album tracks.

An irrefutable pop song, the acoustic guitar-aided track sounds closer to “Red” single “22” than currently available “1989” songs “Shake it Off” and “Out of the Woods.”

Lyrics featured in the commercial include, “And that’s how it works/That’s how you get the girl.”
