Idina Menzel’s “Holiday Wishes” Pacing for 18-21K Sales

Let’s face it: Idina Menzel’s captivating rendition of “Let it Go” is a major reason why the “Frozen” soundtrack is thus far the only album to move more than 1 million copies in 2014.

The value of her contribution to the film’s soundtrack is not, however, mirrored in the opening week sales for her “Holiday Wishes” album.

According to Hits Daily Double, the performer’s holiday-themed album is pacing to move just 18-21,000 copies in its first week of release. Currently unlikely to reach the top ten on next week’s Billboard 200, it is tracking as only the eighth-best-seller among new releases.

Realistically, there is no way to spin the opening week sales figure as a positive. It is not impressive.

The positive one can identify, however, is the fact that it is only the middle of October. Holiday shopping has not yet begun, which means the album is not yet on the radar for many buyers. As the holidays draw closer, “Holiday Wishes” could find itself resonating far more significantly with music fans.
