Ratings: “Ray Donovan” Finale Hits High, “Masters of Sex” Falls

After proving itself to be a reliable self-starter all season, Showtime’s “Ray Donovan” saved its most impressive showing for last.

The initial broadcast of Sunday’s second season finale drew a series high 2 million viewers. That easily bests the 1.4 million earned by the inaugural season finale, which received a considerable lead-in boost from the conclusion to Showtime’s “Dexter.”

The tale was not as glowing for “Masters of Sex.” The show’s initial, 10PM season finale airing drew a soft 0.89 million viewers. Though up from the 0.83 million mark posted by the second season premiere, the total was considerably short of the 1.2 million drawn by last season’s finale.

Both shows had received third season orders well in advance of Sunday’s finale broadcasts.
