Lorde Releases “Hunger Games” Single “Yellow Flicker Beat;” Listen Now

Now that her team is done playing on the royal tennis court, Lorde’s attention has turned to her next project: the soundtrack to “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.”

Not simply the sole curator of the release, the New Zealand native is also the artist responsible for its first single.  “Yellow Flicker Beat,” that first single, is now available.

After launching in the dark, brooding vein of her deep album cuts, “Yellow Flicker Beat” erupts into what is arguably Lorde’s punchiest, most atmospheric, most dramatic chorus to date.  Not as overtly radio friendly as hits like “Royals” and “Team,” it nonetheless illustrates the young singer-songwriter’s ability to maintain her uniquely restrained persona while filling arenas with sound.
