“SNL” Ratings Way Down for Chris Pratt, Ariana Grande

The 40th season of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” did not get off to a strong start.

Saturday’s episode, which featured host Chris Pratt and musical guest Ariana Grande, drew a soft 4.0 overnight household rating.

The episode drew a similarly disappointing 2.1 adults 18-49 rating in the markets with Local People Meters.

While the numbers are identical to those delivered by the low-profile season 39 finale, which featured host Andy Samberg and musical guest St. Vincent, they pale in comparison to those posted by that year’s opener.

That episode, which featured host Tina Fey and musical guest Arcade Fire, posted a considerably stronger 4.7 overnight household rating and a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating in the People Meter markets.

Next week’s “SNL” features host Sarah Silverman and musical guest Maroon 5.
