Cole Swindell’s “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” Secures #1

Whether his hope that she gets lonely tonight comes to fruition remains to be seen, but it is now certain that he will be lonely atop the Mediabase country airplay chart.

The recipient of 8,067 spins during the September 21-September 27 tracking period, “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” holds off Luke Bryan’s “Roller Coaster” to claim the #1 spot. “Roller Coaster” earned 7,783 spins during that seven day period.

With 57.79 million impressions, the follow-up to Swindell’s “Chillin’ It” also wins the audience race. Bryan’s latest single earned 56.70 million impressions during the tracking period.

While Mediabase does not publish its chart until Sunday evening, the portrait of the entire top five is now clear. Florida Georgia Line’s “Dirt” rises to #3 on the strength of 7,431 spins, Jason Aldean’s “Burnin’ it Down” advances to #4 with 6,982 spins and Dustin Lynch’s previous #1 “Where it’s At” slips to #5 with a play count of 6,852.
