New drama “Scorpion,” which led out of “Big Bang,” drew a 3.2 with 13.83 million viewers. “Under the Dome” then closed its second season with a 1.8 and 7.52 million.

Update: Consistent with its impressive performance in the overnight household ratings race, CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” dominated the hour among adults 18-49 and total viewers.

The show’s latest season premiere drew a 5.3 adults 18-49 rating with 17.8 million viewers.

Fueled by that impressive showing, new drama “Scorpion” followed with a healthy 3.3 adults 18-49 mark and 14.0 million viewers. Older-skewing than its “Big Bang” lead-in, the drama launch was its timeslot second best performer in adults 18-49 (behind “The Voice”) and best in total viewers.

Leading out of “Scorpion,” the “Under the Dome” season finale drew a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating with 7.6 million viewers.

Barely losing a step in its temporary return to Monday nights, the season premiere of “The Big Bang Theory” led CBS to a strong performance in the overnight ratings race.

Despite now facing Monday Night Football, “The Voice” and “Gotham,” all of which are considerably more intense than what “Big Bang” faced in its Thursday at 8PM timeslot, the hour-long “Big Bang” drew a dominant 11.1 overnight household rating Monday. That represented a decline of just 8% from last fall’s opener.

Bolstered with the best non-sports lead-in available on network television, the 9PM series premiere of “Scorpion” then got off to a strong start. While it likely lost to NBC’s young-skewing “The Voice” in adults 18-49, the “Scorpion” premiere delivered a strong 8.9 overnight household rating.

Up considerably from the numbers for CBS’ comedy launches last fall, the impressive overnight number proves pairing the “Scorpion” opener with the “Big Bang” kickoff was a wise move.

The season finale of “Under the Dome” delivered a 5.0 overnight rating in the 10PM hour.

Note: The ratings posted early Tuesday morning are household numbers derived from metered market data. A follow-up report containing Fast National data for the adults 18-49 demographic and total viewership will be issued by noon ET.
