“Maze Runner” Tops “Tombstone,” “Leave You” to Win Box Office

With a gross of more than that earned by the number two and number three films combined, “The Maze Runner” raced to an easy box office victory.

The film earned $32.5 million in its first weekend of release. Fellow new releases “A Walk Among the Tombstones” and “This is Where I Leave You,” the weekend’s two other big debuts, followed with $13.1 million and $11.9 million, respectively.

“No Good Deed,” which won last week’s box office battle, slipped to fourth with $10.2 million. “Dolphin Tale 2” grabbed fifth place with $9.0 million.

Other top ten films included “Guardians of the Galaxy” (6, $5.2 million), “Let’s Be Cops” (7, $2.7 million), “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (8, $2.7 million), “The Drop” (9, $2.1 million) and “If I Stay” (10, $1.8 million).
