Charli XCX’s “Break the Rules” Lands at Key Pop Station

While it is due to cede its position to Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” later this week, Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” is still technically pop radio’s #1 song.

At least one influential station, however, is already looking to the future.

According to Mediabase, Los Angeles’ powerhouse KIIS FM added the singer-songwriter’s follow-up “Break the Rules” to its rotation this week.

Issued ahead of the song’s formal impact, that add alone will not be enough to send “Break the Rules” charging up the airplay chart. It does, however, indicate that one of pop radio’s key tastemakers is excited about the new track.

“Break the Rules,” which has already claimed nearly three million video views on YouTube, is the latest single from Charli XCX’s sophomore album “Sucker.” The eagerly anticipated LP drops on October 21.
