Meghan Trainor Again Makes the Greatest Gain at Pop, Hot AC

Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass,” the number one song on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, continues to get hotter at key radio formats.

“Bass” once again reigns as the greatest airplay gainer at both pop and hot adult contemporary radio.

According to Mediabase, “Bass” enjoyed a week-over-week spin gain of 2,241 at pop radio. Thanks to that gain, the song lifts an additional two places to #2 on the official Mediabase airplay chart, which measures spins between September 7 and September 13.

Other big gainers at pop this week include Taylor Swift’s #4 “Shake it Off” (+1,528 spins), Jeremih’s #12 “Don’t Tell ‘Em (featuring YG)” (+1,308), Ariana Grande’s #5 “Break Free” (+1,250) and Iggy Azalea’s #7 “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” (+1,181).

Trainor’s song, meanwhile, scores a boost of 856 spins at Hot AC. It reaches #7 on this week’s chart.

Other big Hot AC gainers include Taylor Swift’s #5 “Shake it Off” (+791), Charli XCX’s #10 “Boom Clap” (+533), Coldplay’s #3 “A Sky Full of Stars” (+381) and Clean Bandit’s #20 “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” (+304).

While it was not the top gainer at rhythmic or adult contemporary, “Bass” did enjoy solid growth on both formats.

The song, which is #19 (+2) on this week’s rhythmic chart, enjoyed a gain of 413 spins on that format. It lands behind Iggy Azalea’s #4 “Black Widow” (+537), Trey Songz’ #14 “Touchin’, Lovin’ (featuring Nicki Minaj)” (+494) and TI’s #3 “No Mediocre (featuring Iggy Azalea)” (+469) as the format’s fourth-greatest airplay gainer.

The song’s gain of 53 spins is the seventh-largest at adult contemporary radio. It rises thirty two places to #28 on this week’s chart.
