Opting in favor of the predictable, country radio programmers warmly welcomed Garth Brooks’ comeback single “People Loving People” into the fold.
Brooks’ new tune registered as the format’s most-added with a whopping 122 pickups from Mediabase-monitored stations this song. No other song garnered even half as much support.
Released last Wednesday, “People” is already up to #25 on Mediabase’s airplay chart and #19 on Billboard’s Country Airplay breakdown. It was the week’s top debut on both listings.
Unable to match the “People Loving People” add count, Tim McGraw’s new “Shotgun Rider” still had a strong week in the runner-up position. It scored 57 monitored adds this week.
Lee Brice’s “Drinking Class” followed with pickups from 37 monitored stations, while Darius Rucker’s “Homegrown Honey” (28 monitored adds) and Easton Corbin’s “Baby Be My Love Song” (27 monitored adds) filled the final two slots in the weekly top five.
Other hot commodities included Brad Paisley’s “Perfect Storm” (26), Blake Shelton’s “Neon Light” (15), Joe Nichols’ “Hard to Be Cool” (9), Chris Young’s “Lonely Eyes” (8) and Justin Moore’s “Home Sweet Home (featuring Vince Neil)” (5).
