Maroon 5’s “Maps” Claims #1 at Hot AC, Coldplay Goes Top 5

By this Wednesday, Billboard will have revealed that Maroon 5’s “V” was the week’s top-selling album.

Sunday evening, Mediabase will confirm that the album’s lead single “Maps” was the week’s #1 song on the hot adult contemporary radio format.

The recipient of 6,478 Hot AC plays during the August 31-September 6 tracking period, the Maroon 5 tune dethrones Sam Smith’s multi-week #1 “Stay With Me” on the chart. Smith’s song received 6,261 plays across the aforementioned seven days.

“Stay With Me” did, however, reach a larger audience. The song’s weekly impression count of 42.02 million bests the 40.47 million earned by “Maps.”

Other movement in the Top 10 of this week’s Hot AC airplay chart:

— Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” rises one place to #5 on the Hot AC airplay chart.

— Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” reaches a new peak of #7. Positioned at #8 last week, “Shake it Off” swaps spots with Ingrid Michaelson’s “Girls Chase Boys.”

— Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” rises one place to #10. It switches positions with Disclosure’s “Latch (featuring Sam Smith).”
