Simon Cowell on Simone Battle Death: “It’s Such a Loss”

While GRL has been enjoying global recognition for its single “Ugly Heart,” it was “The X Factor” that first put member Simone Battle on the map.

Naturally, several names associated with that show have been publicly responding to the news that Battle died of an apparent suicide Friday.

Fellow contestants Hayley Orrantia and Drew Ryniewicz were among the first to share their condolences Saturday morning. Soon after, competitor Stacy Francis and season one judge Nicole Scherzinger weighed in.

The latest to comment on Battle’s passing is show creator Simon Cowell.

“I am so sad to hear about the news Simone Battle has passed away,” wrote Cowell on Twitter. “She was such a fun nice person. It’s such a loss. Rest in peace Simone.”

According to law enforcement officials, Battle was found hanging from a rod in her closet early Friday morning. She was 25.
