GRL Officially Comments on Simone Battle’s Death

Through the group’s Twitter account, the members of G.R.L. collectively responded to news that Simone Battle passed away Friday.

“Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone’s incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart,” wrote the group, which consists of Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen. “We will carry her memory with us in everything we do.”

Per TMZ, law enforcement sources say Battle was found hanging from a rod in her bedroom closet early Friday morning. The former “X Factor” contestant and current G.R.L. performer was 25 at the time of her passing.

Prior to the GRL Tweet, Robin Antin, who oversaw the formation of the group, joined official representatives from Reign Deer Entertainment, Kemosabe Records and RCA in confirming news of Battle’s passing.
