Alesso & Tove Lo’s “Heroes” Garners Early Support at Pop Radio

Alesso’s “Heroes (featuring Tove Lo)” does not formally impact pop radio until September 9, but it has already won over some of the format’s most influential stations.

The week’s eighth-most-added song, “Heroes” launched at twelve monitored Mediabase stations this week. Numerically impressive, the performance is even more significant when one examines the stations included in that list of twelve.

Among those to get on board with “Heroes” this week were New York’s 92.3 AMP, Los Angeles’ 97.1 AMP, Los Angeles’ Radio Disney LA and San Francisco’s 99.7 NOW!.

While early support from those stations does not necessarily guarantee a high play count, it does put “Heroes” in position to reach a broad audience. If that audience gets on board, the song will generate the momentum needed to make a legitimate splash at pop.

The aforementioned stations also got behind several other songs this week. 92.3 AMP finally added Meghan Trainor’s Top 5 hit “All About That Bass,” Radio Disney picked up Hilary Duff’s “All About You” and Afrojack vs. 30 Seconds to Mars’ “Do or Die” and 99.7 NOW! jumped on Rixton’s “Wait on Me,” Echosmith’s “Cool Kids,” David Guetta’s “Lovers on the Sun (featuring Sam Martin)” and Deorro’s “Five Hours.”

Other stations to get behind “Heroes” include Portland’s Live 95-5, San Diego’s Energy 103.7, Las Vegas’ 104.3 NOW, San Diego’s Channel 93.3, Oklahoma City’s KJ103, Tyler’s The Breeze, Palm Springs’ 97-7 KRCK and Detroit’s 98.7 AMP.

Tove Lo is currently charting at #21 on pop with solo release “Habits (Stay High).” Supported by iHeartRadio’s “On the Verge” program, “Habits” was pop’s second greatest airplay gainer over the past seven days.
