GRL’s “Ugly Heart” Hits Top 40 at Hot AC Radio

With support from iHeartRadio’s “On the Verge” program, GRL’s “Ugly Heart” is beginning to establish itself on the Hot Adult Contemporary format.

The recipient of 332 plays, “Ugly Heart” ranked as Hot AC’s 40th-most-played song between August 20 and August 26. According to Mediabase, its week-over-week spin gain of 271 was the seventh-largest during the measured period.

The song’s weekly audience impression count of 1.79 million was Hot AC radio’s 38th-largest.

While the “On the Verge” program only provides “Ugly Heart” with a direct boost at Hot AC, the hope is that the added exposure will afford the song with some momentum at pop radio. That notion applied to Echosmith’s “Cool Kids,” which surged into the Top 20 at pop in the wake of its “On the Verge” boost at Hot AC.

GRL’s tune is currently the 42nd-most-played song at pop radio.
