“The Leftovers” Won’t Disappear; HBO Confirms Season 2

Riding respectable ratings and ample buzz, HBO’s “The Leftovers” is in no jeopardy of disappearing the way 2% of its in-show population did.

It will be back for a second season at HBO.

HBO made the announcement Wednesday, which comes roughly a month before the show airs its first season finale on September 7. A premiere date for the new season was not confirmed.

“We are thrilled to bring back THE LEFTOVERS for a second season with the exceptional talents of Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta,” says HBO’s Michael Lombardo. “It has been truly exciting to see the overwhelming response to their provocative and original storytelling. We look forward to continuing the journey as the show delves deeper into the lives of those who remain.”
