Virtually every awards show camera locates a celebrity making a noteworthy facial expression or mouthing a newsworthy remark.
Virtually every celebrity caught in such a situation declares that what the audience saw was out of context.
Rixton frontman Jake Roche is not one of those celebrities.
In a Tweet following Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards broadcast, Roche confirmed he was indeed mouthing “wow” when presenter Lea Michele hit the stage in a very leggy dress.
“Yes I really did mutter the words ‘wow’ on camera when @msleamichele walked out,” Tweeted Roche.
He also thanked fans for Tweeting positive remarks about his band’s performance. The UK foursome performed a medley of “Wait on Me” and “Me and My Broken Heart” during the FOX awards show broadcast.
Michele, who customarily receives raves for her awards show looks, presented the Choice Villain Award alongside Paul Wesley at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards.
