Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” Nears #1 at Pop

As it works to dethrone MAGIC!’s “Rude” on the Billboard Hot 100, Sam Smith’s #2 “Stay With Me” is now certain to achieve that feat on Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart.

And it will do so quickly.

Per the latest edition of the rolling pop airplay chart, “Stay With Me” garnered 17,050 spins during the seven day period ending August 8. “Rude” earned 17,303, which represents a margin of victory of just 253 weekly spins.

Insofar as “Stay with Me” is still rapidly rising (its week-over-week rate of increase is now 1,066 spins) while “Rude” is beginning to tumble (its week-over-week change was a decrease of 641 spins), it will close the gap and takeover the #1 spot within the next few days.

During the seven days ending August 8, “Rude” saw its weekly audience impression count decline slightly to 112.41 million. That of “Stay with Me” improved to 109.75 million.
