Maddie & Tae Set for Today Show, Go Top 20 on Hot Country

When Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye–branded professionally as duo Maddie and Tae–perform on the August 11 edition of NBC’s “TODAY” (aka “The Today Show”), they will do so with a song that is making waves on several key music charts.

“Girl in a Country Song,” the duo’s debut single and buzzworthy jab at bro country, is now one within the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

Fueled by growing sales and airplay and an impressive streaming count for its video, “Girl” soars ten places to a new peak of #16.

It simultaneously climbs twelve places to #31 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and is a rolling #34 on Mediabase’s country airplay listing. It also makes its debut at #71 on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100.

One of country radio’s most-added songs for three consecutive weeks, “Girl in a Country Song” offers a pointed, yet comedic, shot at the portrayal of women in “bro country songs.” In presenting its commentary, it makes specific references to lyrics from songs like Jason Aldean’s “My Kinda Party,” Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here,” Thomas Rhett’s “Get Me Some of That” and Florida Georgia Line’s “Get Your Shine On.”
