5 Seconds of Summer Album Sales Pacing for 250K

Thanks to a record-setting number of pre-orders and what analysts anticipate will be extremely front-loaded debut week interest in general, 5 Seconds of Summer’s self-titled debut album will not follow a typical sales trajectory.

As a result, formulating an estimate for the album’s first week sales total is an immensely difficult challenge. All early estimates and tracking data should be taken with a significant grain of salt.

Disclaimers noted, sources are nonetheless beginning to offer their rough expectations for the album’s first week sales count. And they, predictably, look massive.

In its Tuesday morning update, Hits Daily Double issued a rough forecast of 250,000 inaugural week sales for the album. If that figure holds, it would represent the best opening sales frame since Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories” moved 383,000 copies in May.

5 Seconds of Summer previously made chart waves with its “She Looks So Perfect” EP. The four-song release moved 143,000 copies in its bow this spring.
