Florida Georgia Line’s “Dirt” Debut is Biggest Since Taylor Swift’s “Red”

With country music’s best weekly sales figure in a year and the best debut in almost two, Florida Georgia Line’s “Dirt” got off to an irrefutably hot start.

According to Billboard, the country duo’s new track scored 182,000 paid downloads during its first week of availability.

Second only to MAGIC!’s “Rude” (185,000) on this week’s Digital Songs chart, the sales total represents the best for a country song since FGL’s own “Cruise” scored 193,000 paid downloads during the week of July 7, 2013.

It is, meanwhile, the best weekly debut total for a country song since Taylor Swift’s “Red” moved 312,000 in October 2012.

Sam Smith’s “Stay with Me,” which was number one on last week’s Digital Songs chart, trailed the MAGIC! and FGL songs with a third place finish this week. Its download count clocked in at 162,000.

Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy (featuring Charli XCX)” was fourth with 154,000, while Ariana Grande’s “Problem (featuring Iggy Azalea)” claimed fifth on the strength of 124,000.

Other top ten sellers: Nico and Vinz’s “Am I Wrong” (111,000, #6), Maroon 5’s “Maps” (105,000, #7), Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” (100,000, #8), Jason DeRulo’s “Wiggle (featuring Snoop Dogg)” (90,000, #9) and Ariana Grande’s “Break Free (featuring Zedd)” (86,000, #10).
