Trey Songz, MAGIC! Take Lead on Album Sales Chart

MAGIC!’s breakthrough hit “Rude” continues to reign as the best-selling digital single in the United States, but it was Trey Songz, not the Canadian reggae fusion act, that climbed to number one on the album sales chart Tuesday.

Songz’ “Trigga,” which debuted on iTunes shortly before midnight Tuesday, quickly claimed the top spot on the retailer’s sales chart.

The MAGIC! album is not, however, far behind. The band’s debut “Don’t Kill the Magic,” which is available for just $6.99 on iTunes, rocketed into the #2 position on the iTunes chart as the clock struck midnight.

Ed Sheeran’s “x,” which will appear at #1 on this week’s Billboard 200 Album Sales Chart, slipped to #3 on iTunes. Seether’s new “Isolate and Medicate” opened at #4, while Sam Smith’s holdover “In the Lonely Hour” held the #5 spot.

Other top ten sellers on iTunes include Hillsong Worship’s new live album “No Other Name” (#6), Robin Thicke’s new “Paula” (#7), Lana Del Rey’s holdover “Ultraviolence” (#8), Tessanne Chin’s new “Count on my Love” (#9) and Colt Ford’s new “Thanks for Listening” (#10).
