Maroon 5, Train Still Erupting at Hot AC Radio

For the third consecutive week, Train’s “Angel in Blue Jeans” and Maroon 5’s “Maps” were the most-added tracks at Hot AC radio.

This week’s ultimate crown belonged to the Train song, which ranked as most-added. Mediabase says the song landed at eighteen new stations this week, including New York City’s powerhouse PLJ.

Given that their song debuted at a whopping sixty Hot AC stations last week, Maroon 5 are unlikely down about their second-most-added position this week. “Maps” scored pickups from fifteen of the format’s stations this week. Like “Angel,” it also landed at PLJ.

Already hits on the format, Maroon 5’s “Maps” and Train’s “Angel in Blue Jeans” were Hot AC’s 12th- and 17th-most-played songs, respectively, as of June 29.

Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” was the week’s third-most-added song with eleven pickups, while Calvin Harris’ “Summer,” Capital Cities’ “One Minute More” and Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” tied for fourth place with ten adds.

For “One Minute More,” the list of ten stations includes Chicago’s 101.9 THE MIX. Echosmith’s “Cool Kids,” meanwhile, scored an add from Los Angeles’ 104.3 MYFM.

Florida Georgia Line’s “This is How We Roll (remix featuring Jason DeRulo)” ranked as seventh-most-added with 8 pickups, while Ariana Grande’s “Problem (featuring Iggy Azalea)” and Daughtry’s “Battleships” landed at seven each.

Disclosure’s “Latch (featuring Sam Smith)” and Neon Trees’ “Text Me in the Morning” tied for tenth with six adds. New York’s Fresh 102.7 was one of the six to add the Neon Trees track.

Since Mediabase’s airplay chart is driven by data from monitored reporters, it is also worth looking at how songs fared with those stations this week:

1) Train – Angel in Blue Jeans – 17 monitored adds
2) Maroon 5 – Maps – 14 monitored adds
3) Calvin Harris – Summer – 10 monitored adds
3) Capital Cities – One Minute More – 10 monitored adds
