Maroon 5’s “Maps”, Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” Again Smash at Pop Radio

Pop radio’s scorching reception to Maroon 5’s “Maps” and Charli XCX’x “Boom Clap” was not a one week affair. For the second consecutive week, the emerging hits ranked as the format’s most-added tracks.

According to Mediabase, Maroon 5’s “Maps” again led the week with a whopping 64 adds at pop radio. Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” was right behind with an impressive 44 adds of its own. Already among pop’s top 20 and top 40 most-played songs, respectively, the two songs will leverage the strong radio support to continue rocketing up the airplay chart.

The songs were not, however, alone in their dominance this week. After scoring quality adds from influential stations like Z100, KIIS and 92.3AMP last week, Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” played the quantity game this week. Supported by iHeartRadio’s “On the Verge” program, the international smash scored a whopping 40 pop format pickups this week.

Proving it is far from done making a run, Rita Ora’s top 40 hit “I Will Never Let You Down” ranked as the week’s fifth-most-added. One of the fifteen stations to add the track was New York’s powerful Z100.

Rita Ora also made a mark as a featured artist. Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow,” which features vocals from Ora, landed at 14 stations. Z100 and KIIS were among the stations to get behind the track.

Florida Georgia Line’s “This is How We Roll” remix, which features Jason DeRulo, tied Lorde’s enduring “Tennis Court” as the week’s seventh-most-added track. Both landed at 13 new pop stations.

GRL’s newly-impacting “Ugly Heart” and Tiesto’s “Wasted (featuring Matthew Koma)” followed with twelve adds each.

Since Mediabase’s airplay chart only incorporates data from monitored stations, it is also worth tracking the add counts specifically from those reporters:
