Pop Radio: Calvin Harris’ “Summer” Goes Top 5, Ariana Grande Nears #2

Two summer smashes continue to make impressive moves at pop radio.

Ariana Grande’s “Problem (featuring Iggy Azalea),” one of those jams, will hit #2 on Friday’s edition of the Mediabase rolling airplay chart. Its rise, which remains the fastest at pop radio, will propel it past Paramore’s current #2 “Ain’t it Fun.”

That Paramore song, which is finally losing steam at radio, only trails Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy (featuring Charli XCX)” on the chart.

Grande’s song will not immediately charge past “Fancy” for the number one spot, but such a movement does appear locked on the horizon.

Growth is also good for Calvin Harris’ “Summer,” which advances to #5 on Mediabase’s rolling airplay chart. It will soon leapfrog Justin Timberlake’s declining “Not a Bad Thing” to claim the #4 spot.
