Jason DeRulo, Demi Lovato Again Dominate at Top 40; Lorde Rises

While a trio of new tracks officially impacted Top 40 this week, radio programmers were more interested in adding previous releases to their playlists.

Jason DeRulo’s hit “Wiggle (featuring Snoop Dogg),” which is already #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, #8 on iTunes and #22 on Mediabase’s Top 40 airplay chart, ranked as the week’s most-added song at pop radio.

According to Mediabase, a total of 45 Top 40 stations added the song this week.

Pharrell’s “Come Get it Bae” and Demi Lovato’s “Really Don’t Get (featuring Cher Lloyd),” which have been quickly ascending the airplay chart since impacting last month, followed with respective add counts of 32 and 30. New York’s powerhouse station Z100 was among the channels to officially pick up the Lovato song this week.

As of press time, “Come Get it Bae” and “Really Don’t Care” were the format’s 32nd and 37th most-played songs, respectively.

After reigning as the most-added track last week, Jennifer Lopez’ “First Love” followed with 23 new adds to rank as the fourth-most-added. Lorde’s “Tennis Court,” which has been gaining steam after a modest start, landed in fifth with 21 Top 40 adds. Lopez’ song is currently the 33rd-most-played at radio; Lorde’s is #29.

Michael Jackson’s & Justin Timberlake’s “Love Never Felt So Good” and Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” tied for sixth place with 19 pop radio adds.

Echosmith’s “Cool Kids,” the most-added of the newly-impacting tracks, claimed eighth place for the week on the strength of 17 adds. OneRepublic’s “Love Runs Out” and Shakira’s “Empire” tied with 17 adds of their own.

Beyond the Echosmith song, the week’s other official debuts included Avicii’s “Addicted to You (featuring Audra Mae),” which net 15 adds and Glenn Morrison’s “Goodbye (featuring Islove),” which landed at seven stations.

Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars,” which does not officially impact the format until next week, scored ten early adds.

Since Mediabase’s rolling airplay chart only includes data from monitored stations, it is worth also noting how songs fared this week at those stations:
1) Jason DeRulo – Wiggle ft. Snoop Dogg – 42 monitored adds
2) Demi Lovato – Really Don’t Care ft. Cher Lloyd – 28 adds
2) Pharrell – Come Get it Bae – 28
4) Jennifer Lopez – First Love – 23
5) Lorde – Tennis Court – 20
6) Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake – Love Never Felt So Good – 19
7) Echosmith – Cool Kids – 17
7) Sam Smith – Stay With Me – 17
7) OneRepublic – Love Runs Out – 17
10) Shakira – Empire – 16
