Early Report: Mariah Carey’s “Elusive Chanteuse” Album Sales Hit 56K

While the definitive Nielsen SoundScan data will not be published until Wednesday, a preliminary report from Hits Daily Double confirms that Mariah Carey’s “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse” performed at the low end of expectations.

Hits Daily Double’s version of the opening week sales tally, which should only differ slightly from the final SoundScan number, registers at 56.6K. Enough to reign as the week’s best performance for a new release, the total nonetheless trails holdover albums from Coldplay (84.8K) and Brantley Gilbert (66.9K).

It also represents a significant decline from the 168,000 debut week total for predecessor “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” which represented a significant decline from the 463,000 moved by its predecessor “E=MC².”
