Floyd Mayweather Defeats Marcos Maidana via Majority Decision

It was not the cakewalk many expected, but it ended the way virtually everyone expected.

Floyd Mayweather’s hand was raised in recognition of his victory over Marcos Maidana.

While Maidana found success in bullying Mayweather against the ropes, he was ultimately unable to capitalize on the advantage he was creating. Mayweather remained successful at connecting, and when the majority of the three judges rendered their verdict, they agreed “Money” was more effective.

The judges scored the bout 114-114, 117-111 Mayweather and 116-112 Mayweather.

“If the fans want to see it again, we can do it again,” said Mayweather of a potential rematch.

Believing he was more dominant and deserved the decision, Maidana cracked, “I have to give him the rematch because I won the fight…yes, I will give him the rematch.”
