Update: The CW’s “Reign” Ratings Improve for “Toy Soldiers”

Update: Unfairly portrayed in the overnights, ratings for The CW’s “Reign” actually improved Thursday.

“Toy Soldiers,” this week’s installment, delivered a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating with 1.35 million viewers.

Weak compared to the 0.6 and 0.7 numbers the show routinely posted earlier this season, the 0.5 represents welcome growth from the 0.4 posted by the prior two airings.

“The Vampire Diaries,” which led into “Reign,” scored a 0.8 with 1.81 million viewers. It was up from slightly from last week’s series low.

Despite receiving marginally improved support from lead-in “The Vampire Diaries,” The CW’s “Reign” actually suffered a slight loss in the overnight metered market ratings.

“Toy Soldiers,” Thursday’s episode, posted a 1.1 overnight household rating. Tied with two previous episodes for a series low, the number was down a tenth from last week’s 1.2.

That 1.2 translated into a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating with 1.39 million viewers in the Final Nielsen report.

Earlier in the night, The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” delivered a 1.5 overnight household rating. Weak by the standards of the veteran series, it was nonetheless an improvement upon last week’s 1.4.

Last week’s episode ended up drawing a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating with 1.66 million viewers in the finals.

While it should not make the disappointing ratings significantly more palatable, it is worth noting that several CW series have been enduring ratings woes in recent weeks.
