Jason DeRulo’s “Talk Dirty” Charges Past “Happy” at Top 40 Radio

After weeks of living in the shadow of Pharrell’s “Happy,” Jason DeRulo’s “Talk Dirty (featuring 2 Chainz)” has finally claimed the top spot at Top 40 radio.

According to Mediabase, the song, which is already the artist’s most successful release since his 2009 debut “Whatcha Say,” was the format’s most-played track for the seven days ending April 12.

Down 599 spins from the prior period, Pharrell’s “Happy” slipped to number two on the rolling Mediabase airplay report. With an estimated 116.804 million impressions, “Happy” did, however, still garner the week’s largest Top 40 audience.

As Pharrell’s song continues its inevitable descent, John Legend’s career-defining “All of Me” will also soon claim a more dominant position at Top 40 radio.
