“Noah” Wins Weekend Box Office Race, “Sabotage” Bombs

Another post-hiatus Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle, another box office clop.

“Sabotaoge,” the former California governor’s latest, earned just $5.3 million in its first weekend at the box office. Enough for a mere seventh place finish, it makes the notion of calling the “Noah” gross underwhelming seem silly.

Realistically, that film’s gross was underwhelming, however. It might have landed atop the box office, but an opening weekend take of $44 million is definitely not impressive given the film’s cost and hype.

“Divergent,” last week’s winner, dipped to second with $26.5 million. “Muppets Most Wanted” earned $11.4 million for third, while “Mr. Peabody & Sherman” ($9.5 million, 4th), “God’s Not Dead” ($9.1 million, 5th) and “Grand Budapest Hotel” ($8.8 million, 6th) occupied the next three places.
