“The Marked Ones” Cools Off, “Frozen” Wins Box Office

“Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones” was unable to parlay its Friday lead into a weekend box office victory.

As expected, that honor instead went to “Frozen,” which notched a number one finish in its seventh weekend of release.

“Frozen” grossed $20.7 million over the past three days, which sent its cumulative gross to an impressive $297.8 million. It will surely cross the $300 million mark this week.

“The Marked Ones,” on the other hand, earned $18.2 million this weekend. It was the worst bow for an “Activity” film since the original opened with a very limited release scope.

“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” ($16.3 million, #3), “The Wolf of Wall Street” ($13.4 million, #4) and “American Hustle” (#13.2 million, #5) completed the top five.
