The CW’s “Reign” Ratings Show Slight Improvement

Update: Though The CW’s “Reign” only matched last week’s 0.6 adults 18-49 rating, it gained ground in a number of key measures.

Up in total viewers to an average of 1.64 million, “Reign” tied its season high numbers in adults 18-34 (0.7) and women 18-34 (1.0).

Earlier in the night, CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” drew a 1.3 rating with 2.59 million viewers. More granular numbers included a 1.4 in A18-34 and a 2.0 in W18-34.

Last week, The CW’s “Reign” avoided a notable ratings decline despite the impact of Halloween and the absence of its “The Vampire Diaries” lead-in in the New York market.

This week, despite facing a returning “Glee” and a full suite of other network competition, “Reign” actually gained in the overnights.

Thursday’s episode improved by a tenth to a 1.4 overnight metered market number.

Whether that gain in the overnights translates into a gain in total viewers and (particularly) in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic remains to be seen, but it once again appears “Reign” avoided a significant ratings drop.

Like its showing two weeks ago, “Reign”‘s 1.4 overnight rating came out of a 1.8 for lead-in “The Vampire Diaries.”
