“The Voice”‘s Caroline Pennell, Jacquie Lee Race for iTunes Bonuses

Update: None of Tuesday’s performers reached the Top Ten in time to secure a 5X iTunes bonus.

Caroline Pennell’s “We’re Going to be Friends,” Jacquie Lee’s “I Put a Spell on You” and Matthew Schuler’s “Wrecking Ball,” the top performers, closed the voting cycle at #14, #20 and #22, respectively.

Youth reigned supreme on stage Tuesday night, and thus far, the same is true of the latest “The Voice” sales race on iTunes.

As the voting deadline for Tuesday’s half of the Top 20 performances approaches, teenage contestants Caroline Pennell and Jacquie Lee stand the greatest chance of scoring the coveted iTunes bonuses.

At press time–seven hours removed from the 11AM deadline–Pennell’s “We’re Going to be Friends” was making the biggest statement. Currently situated at #19, the song is within striking distance of the top ten and the 5x iTunes vote multiplier that accompanies that achievement.

Lee’s rendition of “I Put a Spell on You,” which closed Tuesday’s show with a bang, had ascended to #24.

Outside of the Pennell and Lee performances, the only Tuesday recording making a hint of an impact is Matthew Schuler’s “Wrecking Ball.” Also the cause of rave reviews, the Miley Cyrus cover is presently at #32 on the iTunes Single Sales chart.

Twenty four hours earlier, James Wolpert’s “A Case of You,” Tessanne Chin’s “Many Rivers to Cross” and Austin Jenckes’ “She Talks to Angels,” the leading Monday performances, were at #12, #34 and #44, respectively. Wolpert’s “Case,” which ended up winning the 5x multiplier, currently sits at #4 on iTunes.

As far as Tuesday goes, interest outside of the aforementioned three songs is very light. The next best performers are Jonny Gray’s “Bittersweet Symphony” (#157) and Josh Logan’s “Crazy” at a distant #163.

Kat Robichaud’s “She Keeps Me Warm” (#191) and Olivia Henken’s “Roar” (#196) are the only other recordings in the Top 200.

— In other “Voice”-related chart news, “Say Something,” which A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera performed on Tuesday’s show, has advanced to number 3 on the overall iTunes Singles chart.
