“American Horror Story” Ratings Slip, But Show Wins Cable Race

The lack of original “Duck Dynasty” competition was not enough to reverse the “American Horror Story: Coven” ratings downturn, but it did pave the way for FX’s drama to win the night.

“Fearful Pranks Ensue,” Wednesday’s episode, garnered a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating with 3.72 million viewers. Down slightly from the prior week’s 2.1 rating and 3.78 million viewers, this week’s numbers represent the third ratings decline in as many post-season premiere weeks.

But with “Duck Dynasty” out of play, the episode, the first of a two-part Halloween special, cruised to victory in the nightly cable ratings race. A “Family Guy” re-run, the night’s second-best cable performer, delivered a 1.4 rating with 2.67 million viewers for Adult Swim.
