“Glee” Ratings Climb for Cory Monteith Tribute Episode

Update: “Glee”‘s tribute to deceased star Cory Monteith surged to a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating with 7.4 million viewers. A season high thus far, the rating is all but certain to remain the show’s best fifth-season performance.

“The X Factor” disappointed, however. It mustered a mere 2.0 with 6.5 million viewers for the fourth and final night of the “4 Chair Challenge.”

It was not about ratings. And it was not the kind of episode for which viewership success is going to be celebrated.

But the ratings report does indeed exist for “The Quarterback,” “Glee”‘s tribute to the late Cory Monteith, and it does reflect a significant viewership increase.

According to TV Media Insights, Thursday’s heartbreaking “Glee” delivered a 5.3 overnight metered market rating. Up significantly from last week’s 3.1 overnight number, it will surely translate to the show’s best adults 18-49 and viewership numbers of the young fifth season.

Earlier in the night, FOX’s “The X Factor” delivered a 4.8 overnight number for the conclusion of its “4 Chair Challenge.” Last week’s episode posted a 5.2.
