Update: “Brooklyn Nine Nine” Ratings Outdraw “Dads,” “New Girl” Leads

Neither “Dads” nor “Brooklyn Nine Nine,” FOX’s new Tuesday comedies, flopped in their premieres, but given the lack of network competition, the association with Seth MacFarlane and the controversy, interest in the former was definitely underwhelming. Interest in the latter was more impressive, but it similarly did not set the world on fire.

“Dads” opened to a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating with 5.57 million viewers. Though that number is acceptable by FOX Tuesday standards in a vacuum, given the buzz–and the likelihood that the show’s ratings will fall as curiosity decreases and competition increases–it represents a disappointing start for the new show.

Lead-out “Brooklyn Nine Nine” performed slightly better; it attracted a 2.5 rating with 6.00 million viewers. Second in the demo to “New Girl” (which drew a 2.9 at 9PM), it attracted the largest audience of FOX’s Tuesday comedies (“New Girl” was actually in third place with 5.56 million).

“The Mindy Project” wrapped up FOX’s night with a 1.9 and 3.95 million viewers.
