Though Primo and Epico carried the burden in the ring, it was valet Rosa Mendes who functioned as the star of that team.
With Mendes off television, there has been little opportunity–and desire–to push the tag team in its existing conception.
WWE, therefore, opted to repackage the duo as “Los Matadores.”
A promo for the new team, which aired on RAW, did not identify the duo as Primo and Epico, but their identities were hardly a mystery to those who could recognize the wrestlers–or who read backstage reports about this planned relaunch.
