Report: John Cena Planning Hiatus after WWE Summerslam

Following a report yesterday that John Cena’s elbow injury was worse than he or the company is publicly letting on, news now comes that the WWE Champion is scheduled for surgery shortly after Summerslam.

F4WOnline.com, which reported both stories, is unclear on the length of the planned hiatus but notes that Cena is definitely scheduled to miss ring time as he deals with his injury.

Given that plan, the reasonable assumption is that either number one contender Daniel Bryan or Money in the Bank title holder Randy Orton is on the verge of becoming WWE Champion. The title switch might not happen on the precise night of Summerslam, but from all indications, it is an imminent component of WWE’s plans.
