Amazon Passes On “Zombieland,” Creator Blames Hateful Fans

While none of the Amazon Originals pilots has received rave reviews, few received a response as tepid as that given to “Zombieland.”

And so even though the series was one of the most high-profile Amazon projects, news of its failure to secure a renewal is anything but surprising.

More surprising?  Writer/executive producer Rhett Reese’s decision to publicly blame the show’s failure on diehard “Zombieland” fans.

“Our Zombieland series will not be moving forward on Amazon,” Tweeted Reese.  “I’ll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard Zombieland fans. You guys successfully hated it out of existence.”

Amazon has not formally announced decisions on its other original pilots, including potential series like “Alpha House,” “Betas,” “Onion News Empire,” “Those Who Can’t” and “Browsers.”
