Report: “American Idol” Considering Justin Bieber, Diddy, Selena Gomez as Judges

Last month, a bizarre report broke that “American Idol” considered bringing back Jennifer Lopez as a midseason replacement for judge Mariah Carey.

That never panned out, but the story’s central thesis–that FOX and “Idol” are unhappy with declining ratings and a chemistry-free judging panel–is irrefutably true.  And so comes a new rumor, that “American Idol” is looking into a pop dream team for next season’s judging panel.

With all four current judges facing the ax, Radar Online reports that “Idol” is considering names like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Diddy and P!nk as judges for the thirteenth season.

According to Radar, “It’s been a lackluster season for Idol and everyone involved with the show is well aware of it so that’s why producers are frantically working on lining up big name stars for season [13]…There’s more drama going on behind the scenes of the show than on the stage, and that’s why there’s a major overhaul in the works.”

Names like P!nk and Diddy have reportedly declined overtures in the past, but those involved with the show truly want a star-studded panel for next season and are hoping to make this sort of lineup work.

The cost will be significant, but according to Radar, FOX sees the investment as worthwhile in the effort to get “Idol” back on top.
