“Evil Dead” Claims Box Office Victory, “Jurassic Park 3D” Does Business

Having scared up an impressive $11.9 million in receipts Friday, horror remake “Evil Dead” will have no trouble claiming the weekend box office crown.

At press time, projections have “Dead” earning $27 million for the weekend, which would represent a bow at the high-end of expectations.

Elsewhere, the 3D re-release of “Jurassic Park” delivered a respectable $7 million Friday for a weekend tally just south of $20 million. “GI Joe: Retaliation” ($6.7 million) and “The Croods” ($5.8 million) followed yesterday, but both are expected to surpass “Jurassic” by weekend’s end.

“Tyler Perry’s Temptation” earned about $3.5 million for fifth place Friday, and it should hold onto that ranking for the full weekend.
