“Modern Family” Ratings Sink to Season Low, “American Idol” Down Again

Wednesday’s ratings report was so loaded with disappointment that not even juggernauts like “American Idol” and “Modern Family” received good news.

Based on the fast nationals, “Modern” ranks as the night’s best performer among adults 18-49. But with just a 3.2 adults 18-49 mark and 8.97 million viewers, the series sank sharply to a season low well below its corresponding rating in 2012.

Other ABC broadcasts included “The Middle” (1.8 rating, 6.81 million), “The Neighbors” (1.5 rating, 5.51 million), “Suburgatory” (1.9, 5.41 million) and “Nashville” (1.5, 5.14 million).

“American Idol,” meanwhile, dipped to an all-time Wednesday low 3.1 adults 18-49 rating with 12.03 million viewers. Even with “The Voice”‘s decline from Monday to Tuesday, it is now the unequivocal top music competition program for adults 18-49.
