“American Idol” Ratings Hit Another Low; “Scandal” Stays Strong

The “American Idol” transition into normalcy continued this week; the once-untouchable reality juggernaut dipped to another series low rating Thursday.

The results show averaged a 2.8 adults 18-49 rating with 11.7 million viewers. The current crop of contestants is not generating any buzz, and it thus seems plausible that the ratings will continue to decline ahead of the season finale.

Though March Madness conceivably drew away some of the “Idol” audience, viewership for the coverage on CBS was considerably less than the usual marks posted by “The Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men.”

“Idol” led into “Glee,” which posted a 2.0 rating and 5.90 million.

Over on ABC, “Scandal” continued its 10PM dominance with a solid 2.8 rating and 8.57 million viewers. Earlier in the night, “Wife Swap” scored a 1.6 with 5.00 million viewers, while “Grey’s Anatomy” posted a 2.9 with 9.11 million viewers.
