CBS Beats NBC In Rainn Wilson Sweepstakes; Secures “Office” Star for Pilot

Even though NBC passed on his “The Office” spin-off “The Farm,” the Peacock reportedly remained very interested in Rainn Wilson, the Emmy-nominated talent behind Dwight Schrute.

The network was reportedly so interested in Wilson that it proposed a six-episode guarantee for him to star in “Donor Party” about an irresponsible man forced to mature when he learns his past sperm donations produced children.

Wilson however decided to take his career in another direction–he will be starring in a pilot at top-rated network CBS. According to Deadline, Wilson will star in “Backstorm,” about an irascible, uncouth detective who tries to correct his destructive behavior.

Deadline had previously labeled Wilson–along with John Stamos and “House of Cards” show-stealer Corey Stoll–one of the most in-demand actors for 2013-14 pilots.
