Justin Bieber’s “Saturday Night Live” Delivers Disappointing Ratings

Justin Bieber’s turn as a “Saturday Night Live” host attracted significant media attention, but it unfortunately did not attract a mass of new viewers for NBC.

Saturday’s episode of the NBC variety series delivered a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating in the 25 markets with local people meters, which is actually down from the figure posted by the last original. That episode, the January 26 airing, was hosted by Adam Levine and averaged a 2.8 rating.

The 2.7 for Bieber’s episode is within the show’s usual range, but considering the hype surrounding his appearance, most were looking for a spike in the ratings. That it did not experience such a spike is the cause of “disappointment.”

The show scored a 4.9 overnight metered market rating.
