CBS Officially Orders a Final Season of “How I Met Your Mother”

Several weeks ago, word broke that all five principal cast members agreed to return for a ninth season of “How I Met Your Mother,” which effectively guaranteed a renewal from CBS.

But no official announcement came, which caused some industry analysts to speculate if there were more, previously-unreported hurdles to overcome.

The answer to that question is now meaningless; CBS finally confirmed “How I Met Your Mother” will return for its final season next year.

“Through eight years, How I Met Your Mother has mastered the art of leading-edge comedy, emotional water-cooler moments and pop culture catch-phrases,” said CBS’ Nina Tassler. “We are excited for Carter, Craig, Pam Fryman and this amazing cast to tell the final chapter and reveal television’s most mysterious mother to some of TV’s most passionate fans.”
